| Ako, or Chenchen: Africa. Yellowish white color.
Grain very similar to that of Sapele. Straight grained quarters with
no defects. An inexpensive chameleon wood. $0.50-$1.00. |

|
| Anigre: Africa. Yellowish white to pale brown.
Typically quarter sliced, but plain sliced available too. Figure
can range from non-figured to heavy fiddleback or block mottle. Even
grained. $1.00-2.25. |

|
| Ash, White: North America, Europe.
Usually selected for it's off white sapwood in plain sliced, and
exclusively sap in quarters. The grain of ash somewhat resembles
that of red oak. $0.50-0.75. |

|
|
| Avodire: West Africa. Light yellow
to whitish. Quarter cut for the most part, the higher figured (often
block figure on an angle) flitches command the premium prices. A
nice fine-grained wood. $1.00-1.50. |

|
| Beech, European Steamed: Europe.
Light, almost maple colored, sometimes tending towards red/pink and
fine-grained. Presently, we have a beautiful parcel of exceptional
quarters and plain sliced. $1.00-1.35. |

| Birch, Yellow: North America. Sapwood
similar to Maple, heartwood sold as Red Birch due to it's color.
Plain sliced, selected for white, red or natural, meaning not selected
at all. Sometimes has a lovely curl to it. $0.75-1.50.. |

|
|
| Bubinga: West Africa. Reddish with
purple hues. Quartered sometimes can have mild to moderate block
figure. When rotary cut, bubinga can have a wild, extremely busy
grain pattern and then is termed as "kevizingo". We have
an outstanding flitch of quarters in house. $1.00-1.25. |

|
| Buckeye: USA. White sapwood. Fine
textured and softer than many woods. Good accent wood. $0.50-0.75. |
|

|
|
| Butternut: North America. Suffering
from a blight makes this a tough one to find in any appreciable volume.
Tan color and related to Black Walnut, it shares some its characteristics.

| Cedar, Spanish: Central & So.
America. Similar to mahogany but lighter colored. A must for cigar
boxes and humidors.

| Cedar, Western Red: Pacific Northwestern USA and
Canada. Usually cut on the quarter, this two toned wood has distinctive
sapwood and
heartwood delineation. Very straight grain and clean, it can be very
striking. $0.50-1.00. |

| Cherry, American Black: Eastern North America and Europe. Color
can run the gamut, but our selection will narrow the field to that
ultimate
classic range of medium pink to red. BUT, be aware that cherry oxidizes
and darkens with time! Plain sliced and quarters available. $0.85-1.25
